The end of fall
brings withered dying leaves;
it inundates my mind
with memories of losing mom.
Yet warm and vibrant colors reach out
to embrace me
with loving support,
as dad calls my name and I turn to him
I recall those joyous days
of frolicking in the leaves
with both mom and dad.
Seasons end,
along with friendships,
a dreaded doom that has been foreseen
and painstakingly avoided but
inevitably comes.
Also comes the beginning of another season,
slowly approaching,
with new friendships and strengthened relationships
of friends long kept.
After the sun has set,
cold and clammy raindrops steal away warmth
from everything in their paths.
In the west I look back
on stars of yesterday,
and then I look toward the east
to see a sunrise bringing forward
the beginning of tomorrow.
Throughout my life, I have had pain and joy;
nevertheless, with each end
comes a new beginning.
And no matter which season of the year
I will always have the guidance of my family and friends
for their true relationships have no end.
